MBA Pathway
Do you have any idea how much more powerful your CPA Certificate would be to your career if you add an MBA to it? We do, and it's substantial.*
That's why we've teamed up with Ellis University, a fully accredited university that allows its students to obtain their degrees online, rather than within the confines and schedules of a traditional campus setting.
With Ellis University, you can receive up to 9 credits toward your MBA**, at no cost. That leaves you with only 27 credits left for earning the MBA.
Here is how it works:
After you have taken Yaeger CPA Review's HomeStudy course for any part of the CPA Exam and successfully pass that section, you will receive up to 9 credits towards an MBA from Ellis University. This means that when you pass either the Financial Accounting and Reporting or the Regulation part of the exam, you earn 3 MBA credits for each. For Auditing and Attestation you can earn 2 credits and another 1 for Business Environment and Concepts (BEC). That's a total of 9 MBA credits. All you need to do is be a matriculated Ellis University MBA student for at least three courses (9 credits) and Ellis will grant you the additional 9 credits for your CPA. That's a savings of over $6,000!
CPA Exam 150-Hour Rule
According to the AICPA, a CPA must have a high level of technical competence as well as a sense of commitment to service, strong communication and analytical skills, and the ability to work well with others. Thus, many states and jurisdictions now require -- or soon will -- 150 semester hours of education in order to qualify for a CPA certification.
To find out if your state requires the 150 hours, go to www.nasba.org or to your local State Board of Accountancy. The 54 state boards of accountancy regulate the practice of accounting. Their regulatory authority is derived from state laws or administrative rules. Only state boards can issue a license or certificate to CPAs. The requirements for licensure vary from state to state.
Visit the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy for more information.
